This Barros Quinta da Galeira Vintage is a wonderfully restrained wine – a deserving winner of those 17 points awarded by Revista de Vinhos. The dark berry notes are beautifully balanced with a pronounced minerality that, with time, will unfold a remarkable level of complexity. Hints of locust bean and dark chocolate add a sophisticated touch, underpinned by the classic structure and freshness provided by the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, and Tinta Barroca varietals, all typical of the Douro region. Absolutely brilliant with a hearty roast or, for a truly decadent finish, alongside a rich chocolate cake.
