Description

Depending on its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some label damage – a common occurrence in wines that have been stored for decades. Garrafeira Nacional is obliged to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it always opts to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We usually select brands/regions that normally perform well in old wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas evolve differently. Therefore, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after many years of being sealed. Avoid decanting – it could be too aggressive for old wines. (Illustrative image only)
