This “Bastardô! Black Edition” demands a certain reverence. The nose offers a glorious burst of melons and apples, underpinned by a subtle herbaceousness reminiscent of young hedgerows – clearly a vineyard with some serious roots. On the palate, it’s a beautifully balanced wine, carrying the unmistakable character of the ‘Vinhas Velhas’, and a refreshing mineral note that’s perfect alongside grilled white fish, perhaps with a squeeze of lemon. A genuinely surprising Tejo, for those who appreciate a wine with a distinct personality.
