“This Beyra is a truly idiosyncratic wine, produced in limited quantities and clearly pushing boundaries. The grapes, grown at over 800 metres within the Douro International Natural Park, pack a serious punch of granite and schist terroir – the resulting minerality is frankly quite arresting. Natural fermentation, utilising indigenous yeasts and concrete eggs, really amplifies the wine’s unique character. It’s a complex red with notes of berries and spices, finishing with a persistent, fresh fruit expression, as if plucked straight from the vine. Perfect for those who relish boldness and distinctiveness of the Beira Interior region. Delicious with red meat dishes, or to elevate a fine sheep’s cheese.”
