Boa-Vista Tinto Cão is a wine with a bright cherry-red colour and a clean, precise aroma. It is austere, with some complexity and minerality from its schist soils, and reveals notes of red fruit, such as cherry, with smoky touches. On the palate it is elegant, fresh and lively, with well-polished tannins that give it a long finish. Quinta da Boavista has been recognised since the first demarcation of the Douro wine region in 1756. The estate is also documented on the famous 19th-century maps of Joseph James Forrester. During the 20th century, the Quinta went through challenging periods and passed through the hands of several owners, who brought their knowledge and experience to the winegrowing of Boavista wines. Located in the Cima-Corgo sub-region, near Pinhão, on the right bank of the Douro, with one of the best views over the river, Quinta da Boavista has 36 hectares of high-quality vineyards, some of them old vines planted with native grape varieties. In 2020, the Quinta was acquired by the Sogevinus Group, one of the largest wine groups in the Douro, which continues to build on its success in Portugal and abroad.
