Originating from the plains of the Tagus, this wine is born on the Quinta São João Batista. Its proximity to the Tagus River and the quality of the soil contribute to the production of excellent wines. The history of Quinta São João Batista is shrouded in tales of noble successions, donations to religious orders, and other events. It was acquired in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio, now part of the Enoport Wines Group, and since then the estate underwent extensive vineyard restructuring and the construction of a modern vinification centre. Located within the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Natural Reserve, recognised by UNESCO since 1981 as a World Biosphere Reserve, Quinta São João Batista is steeped in centuries of history, symbolised by a colonial‑style manor house and a complex of excellent wine‑ageing caves. The estate spans roughly 145 hectares, of which 130 are planted with vines.
