Quinta do Gradil, under the Lisbon Geographical Indication, is one of Portugal’s most important wine regions in terms of vineyard area and wine production. The region is shaped by gentle hills and modest relief; the Lisbon Geographical Indication stretches from the capital northwards to Pombal, always along the coast, within a belt never wider than 40 km. It is a multifaceted area that encompasses a range of old and modern appellations, each with distinct characteristics. The climate is temperate with Atlantic influence, offering a relatively mild summer that is cooler and more humid close to the sea, while the areas protected by the Serra de Montejunto are warmer and drier. Fermentation takes place in a Galilleu (a spherical cement tank), on fine lees for six months, undergoing natural bâtonnage driven by changes in pressure and temperature.
