Quinta do Gradil – Lisbon Geographical Indication Lisbon Geographical Indication (GI) is one of Portugal’s most important wine regions in terms of vineyard area and wine production. The region is set amid gentle, rolling hills and extends from the capital northward to Pombal, always along the coast, within a belt that never exceeds 40 km in width. A multifaceted area, it encompasses a range of both old and modern designations of origin, each with distinct characteristics. The climate is temperate with Atlantic influence: summers are relatively mild, cooler and more humid in areas closest to the sea, while warmer and drier in zones sheltered by the Montejunto mountain range. Vinification: fermentation takes place in the Galilleu—a concrete sphere-shaped vessel—over fine lees for six months, undergoing natural bâtonnage promoted by pressure and temperature differences.
