This Cabeça de Toiro Grande Reserva certainly lives up to its name, earning a well-deserved 91 points from Robert Parker. The colour is incredibly intense, as if the bull is still bellowing, and the aroma transports you to the vineyards alongside the river, with a lovely balsamic note, hints of floral scents reminiscent of the local woodlands, and ripe plum alongside a subtle spice complexity. It’s a wonderfully smooth wine with a persistent finish – definitely one to savour alongside a perfectly grilled steak or a hearty beef stew.
