Originating from the plains of the Tagus, this wine hails from Quinta São João Batista, where its proximity to the Tagus River and the quality of the soil contribute to the production of outstanding wines. The estate’s history is woven through tales of noble successions, donations to religious orders, and other events. It was acquired in 1987 by Caves Dom Teodósio, now part of Grupo Enoport Wines, and since then the property underwent a major vineyard restructuring and the construction of a modern winemaking centre. Located in the Paul do Boquilobo Natural Biosphere Reserve, recognised by UNESCO since 1981 as a World Biosphere Reserve, the estate boasts centuries of history, highlighted by a colonial‑style manor house and an architectural ensemble of excellent wine‑aging cellars, spanning a total area of about 145 hectares, of which 130 hectares are planted with vines.
