This Campolargo Diga is a rather perplexing white – a winter warmer that’s somehow conjured up notes of peach and orange blossom, quite a surprise considering it’s made from Viognier. The slow fermentation in long-aged French oak barrels, combined with sur lie aging, gives it a wonderfully silky texture, but it’s underpinned by a surprisingly vibrant acidity. It certainly delivers on its promise, as evidenced by its Gold medal at the Wine Awards 2022 – a clear indication of its quality. I’d suggest pairing this with some delicate duck preparations.
