This Carlos Lucas Família has clearly had a rather lengthy and passionate chat with its French oak – a full 18 months, you know. The result is a wine that, despite the Touriga Nacional and Aragonez holding their own, seems to have absorbed a surprising amount of finesse from the Alfrocheiro. Expect notes of ripe black fruit, truffle, and a hint of cocoa – perhaps from the barrel – all dancing within a remarkably balanced structure. The Tinto Cão provides a welcome burst of acidity, ensuring it’s lively, while the tannins, beautifully integrated, promise a powerful and lingering finish. Definitely a wine to pair with roasted lamb.
