Casa da Passarella The mystery of the box discovered within one of the walls of Casa da Passarella has finally been solved. The story begins in 1942, when a box was wedged into one of the rooms of Casa da Passarella by its former owners, containing a handwritten document with instructions to be opened 50 years later. In the document, signed by a group of emblematic figures of the time, there was also a last wish: that all the contents of the box be distributed to the poor. The fact is that neither of these two things ever happened. It was only in 2010, when the house underwent renovations, that the box was found and opened. And there was nothing inside. Investigations progressed, never fully unraveling the mystery. When it seemed resignation was about to win over persistence, a specialist in the uncanny was called to the site: “the box was indeed full” — explained Professor K. Noronha — “but not with tangible, material things. The box was impregnated with an extraordinary essence that, reacting with future times, would bring happiness through wine to all who made art and profit from it. Now, those future times are already part of the present. And this is a double discovery” — he concluded. The Discovery is a white DOC wine from the Dão sub‑region of Serra da Estrela. It is made from vines grown on poor, granite soils in a mountain climate. Vinification: pre‑fermentative maceration, stainless‑steel tank fermentation, batonnage in stainless‑steel tank.
