Casa das Gaeiras The Casa das Gaeiras, located in Óbidos and founded in the 18th century, has long been an icon of quality wines from the Lisbon region. Its history records awards recognising the pioneering quality of its wines as far back as the late 19th century, and it was the first producer to bottle quality wines in the area. The harvest is hand‑picked and the grapes are carefully selected; fermentation takes place in small stainless‑steel vats with temperature control. After fermentation, the wine matures for six months in new French oak barrels of medium toast.
