This “Caseiro do Douro” is a seriously seductive wine. Its golden amber hue hints at a lovely, rich maturation, revealing notes of dried peach and plump golden raisins, very much in keeping with the Verdelho grape. There’s a welcome freshness from the Malvasia Fina, alongside the distinctive minerality you’d expect from a Rabigato. It’s got a medium body and a gentle warmth from subtle spices, finishing dry and long – you can practically still taste the dried fruit dancing with a touch of white pepper. Absolutely brilliant with some aged sheep’s cheese, I reckon.
