This Castello d'Alba, a project passionately driven by Rui Roboredo Madeira, truly captures the spirit of the Douro Superior. The grapes are hand-picked and immediately crushed, undergoing a precisely-timed, cold maceration – a mere 48 hours – a beautiful blend of tradition and innovation. Subtle influence from French and American oak (just 3 months) enhances the aromas and texture, without overshadowing the core character of the Jaen, Tinta Barroca, Sousão, Touriga Francesa, Aragonez, and Touriga Nacional grapes. It’s a wine that celebrates the natural process, the terroir, and the renowned know-how, and would pair wonderfully with a hearty dish of arroz de cabidela, or simply enjoyed on its own to appreciate its refined elegance.
