Description

Castello D’Alba Origin: Grapes from vines planted in the Superior Douro, cultivated in dryland viticulture (non‑irrigated) at an average altitude of 300 m, with an average age of about 20 years. The vines are planted on slopes with a predominantly east/north exposure. We select grapes that yield concentrated, aromatic and structured wines, faithfully expressing the “terroir” of the Superior Douro, with notes of green apple, dark fruit and elegant spices. Vinification: Touriga Franca (45 %), Touriga Nacional (35 %), Tinta Roriz (20 %). Harvest is hand‑picked. The grapes are received with full de‑picking and immediately crushed. Fermentation is carried out by variety and by batch, allowing rigorous selection for the final “blend”, in the traditional old‑world style. Fermentation takes place in small‑capacity stainless‑steel vats at about 28 °C, with gentle and controlled macerations to produce elegant and aromatic wines. Aging: 50 % of the lot is aged for 8 months in used French oak barrels, while the remaining 50 % is kept in stainless‑steel tanks.
