Castello di Ama L’Apparita, the first pure‑bred Merlot produced in Tuscany, has been an iconic wine since its first harvest in 1985. Two plots at the top of the Bellavista vineyard make up the L’Apparita estate. The vines were first planted in 1975 with Canaiolo and Malvasia Bianca, then replanted in 1982 with Merlot using clone No. 342. The open‑lira canopy system and predominantly clay soil make this estate a jewel of the global viticultural crown. Since the first harvest, this wine has maintained its unique expression, in which the distinctive characteristics of Merlot are elevated by Ama’s terroir. **VINIFICATION** Vinification began with ambient yeasts in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 30/33 °C, with manual punch‑downs and a total cuvaison of 28 days. After the first racking, the wine was transferred to steel vats for malolactic fermentation. **FINISHING** After malolactic fermentation, the wine was moved to fine‑grained oak barrels, 50 % of which were new and the remainder were used for a second pass, for approximately 14 months. **Awards** 100/100 Vinous; 99/100 Robert Parker; 97/100 James Sukling **Allergen information** Contains sulfites. **SKU:** 106729
