Castelo do Sulco Selections of the Winemaker – white is made from Arinto and Fernão Pires grapes, and is quite fruity, with a balanced body and acidity, good freshness and a lemony finish. The Quinta do Gradil is mentioned in the history of Portuguese wines since 1492. However, it was only in the 17th century that the vineyard and wine became part of the estate’s economic activity. The decisive moment came in the 19th century, when Dona Maria do Carmo Romeiro da Fonseca inherited the Quinta do Gradil from her father, turning it into a benchmark agricultural business focused on wine production. Years later, the Quinta do Gradil remains a Portuguese benchmark worldwide, now led by Luís Vieira. (illustrative image)
