The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company was founded in the 1920s by Abel Pereira da Fonseca in the Bombarral region. At that time, Abel Pereira da Fonseca owned the country’s largest chain of public‑sale outlets, and he used his position to create a company dedicated solely to the production and trade of wines. The Sanguinhal Agricultural Company comprises three estates—Quinta do Sanguinhal, Quinta das Cerejeiras, and Quinta de São Francisco—located in the Lisbon Wine Region, specifically in the Demarcated Region of Óbidos. Here the properties benefit from a microclimate shaped by the Montejunto mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean, giving the still wines, liqueurs, and spirits a fresh, balanced profile that reveals their unique character.
