**Edouard Delaunay** Appellation: AOP Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits **Philosophy** What if the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits were the future of Burgundy? A few kilometres west of the Grand Crus of the Côte de Nuits, on similar soils, the vineyards of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits flourish. This is the territory of the Delaunay family, who settled at Château de Charmont, in l'Étang-Vergy, in 1954. Here, the higher vineyard elevations (100 to 150 metres above sea level) may offer an interesting response to climate change, producing wines that are fresh, pure and elegant. Faithful to our history, we aim to bring greater recognition to these terroirs of the future, which further enhance our beautiful region, now recognised for its UNESCO-listed climats, just as the monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux did in the Middle Ages. **THE CUVÉE** A blend of the great white terroirs of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, located in the communes of Villars-Fontaine, Chevannes, the heights of Premeaux-Prissey and Vergy. The south-west exposure recalls that of the Grand Crus of Chablis and Corton-Charlemagne. The higher altitude gives the wine freshness and minerality, while the south-west exposure allows the grapes to ripen perfectly. In addition, 10% Pinot Blanc, an ancestral variety, adds an extremely interesting fruity note. **VINIFICATION AND AGEING** The grapes were hand-harvested and the whole clusters were gently pressed. Fermentation began in stainless steel vats before the wine was immediately transferred to barrels, where it underwent a slow vinification. Ageing on fine lees (23% new oak) lasted 10 months, with light and regular batonnage, adding greater complexity to the wine. **Awards** 90/100 – Wine Spectator (2022) 90/100 – Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France (2022) 89/100 – Decanter World Wine Awards (2022) 15.5/20 – Jancis Robinson (2021) 91/100 – Decanter (2021) Bronze – IWC (2021) 91/100 – IWSC (2020) 90/100 – IWSC (2020) **Allergen Information** Contains sulphites.
