Depending on its age, the wines may show signs of time, such as dust residue on the bottles and/or damage to the labels—common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is committed to storing all wines at the proper temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance that comes with their age. We typically select brands/regions that usually perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas undergo different evolutions. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it aerate first, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years sealed. Avoid decanting, as it can be too aggressive for old wines. (illustrative image only)
