Château Boyd-Cantenac Margaux Tinto

Description

The Boyds were an important family of merchants from Belfast, originally from Scotland, who maintained a tradition of trade and international relations, as well as migration, throughout their history. In the 17th century they were present in Bordeaux, and it was Jacques Boyd who gave his name to the Cantenac vineyard when he acquired it in 1754. The property was later bought in 1806 by John Lewis Brown of Château Brown, who was related to the Boyds by marriage. With the 1855 classification, the Cru of Boyd‑Cantenac was enshrined, and its ability to produce internationally‑classed wines has endured for more than a century. Since 1932, Château Boyd‑Cantenac has belonged to the Guillemet family and now spans about 17 hectares. (image merely illustrative)
