According to its age, the wines may show signs left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels, which is common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is obliged to keep all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We normally select brands/regions that typically perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even within a bottle its aromas evolve in different ways. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, since it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let it aerate beforehand, which will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed.
