The bottles of aged wines may show traces of dust and damaged labels, which is to be expected given their age. Garrafeira Nacional commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it always opts to preserve the visual appearance that comes with age. We conduct a selection of brands/regions that, in general, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of aged wines. However, we note that wine is a living organism that, even when sealed in a bottle, is subject to different evolutions over time. Thus, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, as it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine aerate first, which will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, be patient to detect the appearance of sediment, which, as a rule, tends to form in an old wine. (Illustrative image)
