Owned by the Boidron family, Château Corbin Michotte sits in the oldest part of Saint‑Emilion, near Cheval‑Blanc and Figeac and on the border with Pomerol. Its 7‑hectare vineyard surrounds the historic castle, once at the heart of a feudal estate owned by the Prince Noir during the English occupation, and lies above a Quaternary aquifer on the island, a tributary of the Dordogne. Silty brown‑sand soils blanket a sandy‑clayey subsoil with an exceptionally high iron content (known locally as crasse de fer). High‑drainage gravel on the surface ensures good rain runoff and soil aeration. The vines average 50 years old, with a portion reaching a century. (Illustrative image only)
