The vineyard's original, almost manic, dedication ultimately led to ruin, culminating in its sale in 1985. Now under the Prats family and subsequently Michel Reybier’s stewardship, Cos d’Estournel continues to demonstrate that exceptional terroir alone isn’t a guarantee of success; sometimes, a simple, heartfelt passion can prove remarkably perilous.
