Depending on its age, the wines may show marks left by time, such as dust on the bottles and/or some label damage – a common sight in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, yet it chooses always to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. Generally we select brands/regions that normally perform well in old‑wine competitions. However, wine is a living organism, exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas are subject to various evolutions. Therefore the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, given that it is an aged wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle air out beforehand, as this will help release the natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines. (illustrative image only)
