This Château d’Issan, sprung from its century-old Clos vines, is a textbook example of elegance. The soil – a rather particular mix of gravel and clay – imparts a truly remarkable freshness, nicely tempered by the wine’s precise tannins, largely derived from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Having spent time in new French oak barrels, it’s a wine that promises longevity, as consistently praised by international critics. Quite simply, a fitting tribute to Margaux, ideally paired with red meats and aged cheeses.
