Established since 1725, Château Gruaud Larose’s story is deeply rooted in the Gruaud family’s records, until Joseph Sebastian de La Rose injected a healthy dose of ambition and rebranded it. While the influence of the Cordier family – who also owned Lafaurie-Peyraguey and Talbot – is undeniable, it was Jacques Merlaut who truly unlocked the castle’s potential. The result is a wine that thoughtfully reflects the estate’s terroir, produced with a commitment to biological and biodynamic viticulture, and which certainly promises elegance and complexity – perhaps best enjoyed alongside a succulent duck with creamy mashed potatoes.
