The bottles of older wines may show traces of dust and damaged labels, in keeping with their age. Garrafeira Nacional commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We conduct a selection of brands and regions that, by convention, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of older wines. However, we inform that wine is a living organism exposed to time, and even while sealed in a bottle, aromas are subject to various evolutions. Thus, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine breathe beforehand, as this will help release its natural aromas after so many years closed. If you choose to decant the wine before serving, make sure you do so patiently to detect the appearance of sediment that, as a rule, old wine tends to produce. (Illustrative image only)
