Description

Château Latour One of the oldest estates in Pauillac, Latour’s history dates back to the 14th century. Documents from 1331 show that Pons, Seigneur de Castillon, allowed one of the most powerful families of the time to build a fortified tower on the site where the château now stands. By the end of the 17th century, Latour became the property of the Segur family, and already in 1718 the modern history of the château began to flourish. The estate acquired several vineyards around the château, which years later would become the famous Château Mouton Rothschild and Château Calon‑Segur. From that moment to the present day, Latour’s reputation has only grown, being regarded as one of the great wines of the Médoc. First Grand Cru Classé of Bordeaux in 1855, Château Latour is one of the world’s most famous and important wines, capable of aging beautifully for decades. Today the estate covers 78 hectares of vineyards planted on gravel soils, and since 2015 its wines have a biodynamic certification. The wines are aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
