The Château Latour is located in the heart of Médoc, in the Bordeaux region, and spans 92 hectares of vineyards, with Cabernet Sauvignon as the predominant grape variety. Latour is steeped in history, dating back to 1378, when the land became the property of Gaucelme de Castillon, who built a garrison fort 300 meters from the estuary to defend against attacks during the Hundred Years’ War. The tower, named La Tour, gave its name to the estate surrounding the fortress, which remained in English hands until the Battle of Castillon in 1453, when it was completely destroyed by the forces of the French king. Unfortunately, the original tower no longer exists, but in 1620 another circular tower was erected, built by Simon Ledwidge, becoming the symbol of the property. (illustrative image)
