Description

Château Latour is located in the heart of Médoc, in the Bordeaux region, and spans 92 hectares of vineyards, predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. Latour is a place steeped in history and ancestry, dating back to 1378, when the lands became the property of Gaucelme de Castillon. He built a garrison fort 300 meters from the estuary to defend against attacks during the Hundred Years' War. The tower, named La Tour, gave its name to the estate surrounding the fortress, which remained in English hands until the Battle of Castillon in 1453, when it was completely destroyed by the forces of the King of France. Unfortunately, the original tower no longer exists. In 1620, another circular tower was erected, built by Simon Ledwidge, and it has since become the symbol of the property.
