Château L'Évangile Pomerol Tinto

Description

The Léglise family of Libourne founded the estate that would become Château L'Évangile. In the mid‑18th century, they were actively involved in planting the vineyards of Pomerol. By the turn of the 19th century, the estate already covered about 13 hectares when it was sold to a lawyer named Isambert. In 1862, L'Évangile was bought by Paul Chaperon, and in 1990 the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) acquired it from the Ducasse family to ensure that the property was cared for with the same dedication. The initial influence of DBR (Lafite) included a more refined selection of the Grand Vin and the creation of Blason de L'Évangile as a second wine. Efforts were also undertaken to improve the vines with a partial restoration and renewal plan launched in 1998. The complete renovation of the cellar, finished in 2004, completed the new configuration of the estate. The L'Évangile 2011 is a blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, showing a deep ruby colour with purple undertones, a noticeable acidity, an aerodynamically sleek style, crisp, elegant, medium‑bodied, with red and black fruit, fine tannins, and a fresh, vibrant mouthfeel.
