Château Mouton Rothschild Reviving an ancestral tradition in the Médoc, in the early 1980s, Philippine de Rothschild decided to plant, on sandy and stony soil, some plots of vineyard with white grape varieties. Half of the wine aged in new oak barrels. Rich, complex and elegant, the Aile d’Argent, despite being produced in very limited quantity, quickly became a reference for lovers of Bordeaux's great white wines. “Aile d’Argent… two uncommon words that emerged from the depths of time, a link between the past and the present, between my father, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, and me. When I was little, my father invented a fairy‑tale for me, whose hero was a magic teapot… the teapot was called Aile d’Argent, Silver Wing. War broke out, my father was imprisoned. In prison, by memory, he wrote the story, which he called Aile d’Argent la Magique, a title under which it was published by Gallimard in 1947. I am glad that the words that once inspired my dreams have again taken shape and colour.” – Philippine de Rothschild The harvest took place between 11 and 19 September, with a composition of 63 % Sauvignon Blanc and 37 % Semillon.
