Depending on its age, wines may show signs left by time, such as dust residue on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels—common in wines that have spent decades in storage. Garrafeira Nacional commits to storing all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but always chooses to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. We typically select brands/regions that usually perform well in old‑wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism, like others, that is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle its aromas undergo different evolutions. Thus, Garrafeira Nacional cannot be held responsible for the wine’s quality, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed.
