This Trotanoy, a gift from Jean-Pierre Mouiex, is a serious statement from Pomerol. The eight-hectare vineyard, with its westward-facing slope and a fascinating mix of gravel and clay soils – particularly that remarkable “crasse de fer” – delivers an incredible intensity. Fermented in cement and aged for 18-20 months in oak barrels, it’s a beautifully balanced wine with subtle complexities. Absolutely perfect with a good ribeye steak.
