Bottles of older wines may show traces of dust and damaged labels, as expected for their age. The National Cellar ensures that all wines are stored at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always chooses to preserve the visual appearance that comes with the wine’s age. We select brands/regions that, by nature, reveal distinct characteristics in tastings of vintage wines. However, we must note that wine is a living organism that ages, and even when sealed in a bottle, its aromas can evolve in different ways. Consequently, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the product’s quality, given that it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open the bottle and let the wine breathe first, as this will help release its natural aromas after many years of closure. If you decide to decant the wine before serving, do so patiently so you can detect the appearance of sediment that, as a rule, an old wine tends to develop. (illustrative image)
