Description

Depending on its age, wines may show marks left by time, such as dust traces on the bottles and/or some damage to the labels, which is common in wines that have been stored for decades. The National Cellar is obliged to store all wines at the correct temperature and humidity, but it always opts to preserve the visual appearance inherent to their age. Generally, we select the brands/regions that usually look good in old wine tastings. However, wine is a living organism that, like others, is exposed to time, and even inside a bottle the aromas are subject to different evolutions. Therefore, the National Cellar cannot be held responsible for the quality of the wine, as it is an old wine. Our recommendation is to open and let the bottle breathe beforehand, as this will help release the wine’s natural aromas after so many years closed. Avoid decanting, as it may be too aggressive for old wines. (image purely illustrative)
