Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Marlborough Branco

Founded in 1985, Cloudy Bay was one of the first five wine producers to venture into Marlborough. At the time, it was almost an unimaginable place for winemaking, but Cloudy Bay’s founder, David Hohnen, was convinced of its potential to produce excellent wines and invested in the region’s best vineyards. Since then, Marlborough has become New Zealand’s premier wine region, as well as one of the finest winemaking destinations in the world. The producer’s name references 1770, during Captain James Cook’s voyage to New Zealand, which coincided with floods in the area; the large amounts of sediment carried to the sea made the water cloudy, leading Cook himself to name the bay Cloudy Bay.
