The Colares wine is unique worldwide. Its Atlantic‑influenced terroir imparts extraordinary salinity and complex aromas that deepen with bottle ageing. Founded in 1898 by António Bernardino da Silva Chitas in Azenhas do Mar, the estate initially sold mainly in Lisbon and in large‑scale export to Brazil. Subsequent generations—son António Bernardino da Silva Chitas Junior and grandson António Bernardino Paulo da Silva—now focus on both the domestic market and extensive exports to Europe and the United States.
