With a straw‑tinted hue and a subtle rosy reflection, the Contracena Blanc de Noir Branco showcases the full elegance that can be drawn from the white version of the Castelão grape. On the nose it delivers an intense, intriguing aromatic profile that evokes white flowers, melon, watermelon, pomegranate, and even peach pit. In the mouth it stands out for its vibrant freshness, delicate flavours, and a well‑integrated acidity that adds structure and precision to the whole. Quinta da Ribeirinha sits in Póvoa de Santarém, in the Tejo region. The family’s passion for wine—and more than that, the constant dedication to viticulture—has been passed down through several generations. José Cândido, the family patriarch, began his career as a farmer from a young age, with wine as his primary source of income. A few years later, his son Joaquim Cândido, a doctor and wine enthusiast, took over, expanding vineyards, building a private cellar, and applying scientific methods to the production process to keep pace with technological advances. Soon after, his children Mariana and Rui—an economist and a biochemist—completed the team that now manages the company. Oenology is overseen by César Machado. (Illustrative image only)
