Description

Founded in 1954 by a group of 22 members, Adega Cooperativa do Cartaxo has roots in a region with a strong winemaking tradition, where historical references to this activity date back before the 10th century. The winery operated until 1974 in the premises of the former Junta Nacional do Vinho (now IVV); since then it has worked in its current facilities, continuously investing in strengthening its human and technological resources to achieve better wine production. With ongoing investment in its human and technological capabilities, Adega do Cartaxo oversees about 700 hectares of vineyards and produces roughly 7 million litres annually. Red wines account for about 70 % of this production, forming part of a wide and diversified range of bottled wines.
