Covela Branco

Description

Covela COVELA Avesso Natur is our first Avesso wine that is not only certified organic but also bottled without the addition of sulfites. This wine showcases Covela’s ongoing commitment to innovation and to extracting the maximum potential of the Avesso grape, which is native to the granite soils along the Douro River where the estate is located. It is the second certified organic wine from the vineyard, following the launch of Covela Avesso Reserva Biológica in 2019. In the COVELA Avesso Natur, the sulfites normally used to stabilize wines were replaced with dry chestnut flower (Castanea sativa Mill.) harvested from Covela’s chestnut trees and hand‑prepared by our viticulture and oenology teams. From the 2020 harvest, we selected a small batch of grapes from our lower plot of Campo Fundeiro, fermenting and ageing them in our oldest oak barrels in an effort to replicate the most traditional winemaking methods of our region.
