This Curral Teles is a wonderfully idiosyncratic wine, seemingly born more from intuition than strict recipe. Crafted in incredibly small batches, it’s a genuine whisper from the Douro Superior, reflecting the wisdom of old vines grown at 650 metres above sea level in the Mêda municipality. The blend of Touriga Nacional and Aragonez undergoes wild fermentation in concrete tanks, followed by ageing in used French oak barrels – a clever touch that beautifully balances the fruit. It’s a wine that truly sings with a hearty beef stew or black pork dish, allowing its complexity to unfold.
