This “Czar” from the Azores is a wonderfully perplexing wine. It’s a naturally fermented liqueur, relying solely on the boldness of its core grapes – Arinto, Verdelho, and Terrantez do Pico – and the patient work of the yeasts. A beautiful interplay of resilience and the island climate, resulting in a truly distinctive wine. Perfect with some hearty sheep’s cheese or a delicate white fish dish.
