From an early age, Carlos Raposo realized his connection to nature, which is why he began studying enology and viticulture at CVR Bairrada School when he was 16. At 20 he moved to France, where he spent seven years studying in Bordeaux and Burgundy. He earned a bachelor's degree in Viticulture from the University of Burgundy and a master's in Enology from the University of Bordeaux. In 2011, at 27, he returned permanently to Portugal and started working with Dirk Niepoort. Despite his youth, his international experience, passion, and dedication made him Dirk’s key man at Quinta de Nápoles in the Douro. He worked hard to craft wines such as the delightful Batuta, the elegant Coche, the characterful Robustus and Redoma, as well as the Turris and all the other projects he took on, from the Dão to the Vinhos Verdes. Carlos partially left Niepoort in mid‑2018, continuing to work with Dirk on the Vinhos Verdes project. In 2018 he returned to his roots, creating his own venture called Vinhos Imperfeitos. Carlos is a native of the Dão region, knows its potential intimately, and has long envisioned the wines he wants to make there. In 2020 he launched the WWW (World Wild Wines), singular, unique, high‑quality wines that embody a concept of distinct wines, using the best nature offers across the world’s various terroirs. Our goal is simply to translate that into a glass of wine. (Illustrative image)
