This wine, hailing from the ancient vineyards of Corullo, is a wonderfully intense cherry-toned mystery – it’s almost as if it’s had a clandestine chat with the local rocks. Grown at altitudes between 660 and 730 metres, alongside vines aged 60 to 100 years, it possesses a remarkable elegance and concentration, clearly echoing the finest expressions of Mencía. The winemaker has masterfully achieved a truly impressive balance between the robustness of Alicante Bouschet and the delicate character of the main grape, resulting in a wine that, according to critics, would be utterly splendid with a hearty game dish or a good, prime beef.
