Dom Pérignon – A Late Harvest The 2013 viticultural year proved to be a welcomed reconnection with the glorious past of late harvests. After a cold, damp winter, spring was gray, quite cool, and extremely rainy. The vines began to bud roughly two weeks later than the decade’s average, a delay that persisted through to the harvest. The hot, dry summer was the longest and most sunny on record in the Champagne region, proving particularly beneficial for grape quality. Early September rain quickly gave way to easterly winds that kept the grapes healthy until they were harvested. Harvest at Dom Pérignon begins on September 28. The tasting of this vintage revealed a promising balance between acidity and body. ELEGANT CLARITY The 2013 vintage showcases the resonance between pinot noirs and chardonnays, between acidity and richness. The precise, elegant, and tactile bouquet unfolds into a delicate, airy floral braid of about three nuances: first citrus, then a more vegetal facet, and finally spices. This precision gives rise to simple, evident elegance where the wine, after an ethereal opening, amplifies and blossoms before yielding to an ineffable sense of clarity.
