This Douro wine, let’s be honest, seems to have sprung straight from a rather dramatic cookbook. The deep purple hue certainly announces itself, and the red fruit aromas, interwoven with floral notes, hint at a bold approach. On the palate, a luxurious texture is undeniably present, though that “massive aromatic intensity” does occasionally erupt in a flurry of flavours. Grown at Quinta da Levandeira do Roncão, it’s clear this terroir contributes to both its elegance and that satisfying, lingering finish. Absolutely brilliant with grilled beef – a truly memorable pairing.
